SOPRIOLA  (Rachel Godsill – soprano and Rachel Stott – viola and viola d’amore) is the ideal ensemble for the small but enterprising music festival.  Requiring neither keyboard instruments nor special staging, the two performers can adapt to unusual performance spaces. They perform repertoire for voice, accompanied by a range of instruments, from the familiar viola to the rarely heard viola d’amore and kantele.

SOPRIOLA programmes include contemporary repertoire alongside traditional music of the region in which they are performing.  Programmes are thoughtfully put together so that audiences can connect with less familiar work through an understanding of its cultural and poetic context.
